Carl A. Link Sr., age 91, of Menomonie, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at home with hospice.
He was born Oct. 26, 1913, in Menomonie to Charles and Emma (Tischman) Link. He was raised in the town of Menomonie, Dunn County. Carl was a resident of the great state of Wisconsin for all the years of his life.
Carl married Erma Malhus on Dec. 10, 1935, in Menomonie. She preceded him in death on June 5, 1993. He worked at Parker Pen in Menomonie and farmed for many years. He was constable of Elmwood for several years, worked at Presto Industries, and ran Link's Gun Sport Shop for more than 30 years. Carl was also part of the Farmers' Market for 20 years.
Carl was a member of St. John's Cemetery Board for many years and was a member and president of the Menomonie Archery Club. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and telling a good story. He was a great sportsman and a wonderful friend to all who knew him.
Carl is survived by his son, Carl (Sharon) Link Jr. of Danbury; five grandchildren, Steve (Rita) Link of East Farmington, Kevin (Brenda) Link of Frederic, Dan (Jessica) Link of East Farmington, Jeff (Jamie) Link, and Tammy Link; several great-grandchildren; his dear friend, Della; his dog, Lacy; and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Erma; two sons, Terry and Ronald; one brother, Leonard; and two sisters, Ada Fregine and Lorraine Evenson.
Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at the Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie with Pastor Paul Pillman officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in the town of Menomonie.
Family and friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home.
