James Edward Pompoco (Jim/Jimmy) passed Sunday, March 29, 2015 at 70 years young. He was born on October 3, 1944 in Struthers, Ohio to the late James and Katherine Pompoco.
At a young age Jim had a hobby with cars that later developed into a passion. Some of his techniques were to use a sidewalk curb as a lift so he could see and identify what need to be fixed. While using this technique Jim's father, James, would watch his son tinker with the cars and would just smile and wonder how his son got that mechanical intuition. In Jim's rebel, rock star years he would race his buddies for their car titles and bragging rights. Jim loved to watch anything that had to do with cars, NASCAR especially. He worked for dealerships as a service manager and owned several repair shops. The common thread was that Jim was always willing to go above and beyond, and go that extra mile for his customers. He loved to make and see his customers happy. Jim would often say "Fix it right the first time, and off they went satisfied."
A pastime that Jim loved was boating and fishing. It didn't matter what type of fish he caught just as long as he was catching a fish. He spent many early mornings by the lake…mediating about family, friends and life.
Jimmy is survived by: his wife, Rebecca James-Pompoco; five children from his late wife, Kathryn: Carrie (Randy), Jamie (Eric), Kristy (Ray), Jimmy (Linda), and David; his two sisters: Elaine (Donald) and Peggy Ault; 13 grandchildren: Christopher, Katie, Julie, Kody, Taylor, Karly, Keanu, Chad, Brittany, Collin, Christian, Levi, and Alli; four great-grandchildren: Skylar, Brodie, Ryder, and Landon; and many many nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Jimmy at the Chippewa Valley Bible Church, 531 E. South Ave, Chippewa Falls on April 11, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jim Woldhuis officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior.
