EAU CLAIRE - John T. Hub, 78, of Eau Claire, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at his residence.
John was born in Chippewa Falls on Oct. 9, 1933, a son of Clarence "Butch" and Helen (Dahl) Hub. He attended Chippewa Falls High School and graduated with the Class of 1951 and was inducted into the Class of '51 Hall of Fame for basketball.
John served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955, with the Rank of Corporeal.
John married Lorraine Mrzena on June 16, 1955, Central Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls.
John worked at Northern States Power Company for 11 years. He also worked at Creamland Dairy and University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire until his retirement in 1981.
John served as a Chippewa Falls City Council Alderman from 1967 to 1970. He served on the City Gas Code Board. John served as President of the Chippewa Falls High School Booster Club and was also a WIAA basketball and football official for 16 years. John was a life-time member of American Legion Post #53.
John was a member of Chippewa Falls Jaycees.
John was extremely dedicated to his children and grandchildren in all of their endeavors, athletics, and academics. He was a people person and freely gave his time to those in need. He rarely had a negative word to say about anyone and set a great example for his family. He will be deeply missed.
John survived by: his three sons, Brad of Dodgeville, Robert of Eau Claire, and Scott (LeAnn) of Eau Claire; daughter, Lorre (Brian) Johnson of Eau Claire; 10 grandchildren, Kerryn Johnson, Brooke Hub, Jaydon Matott, Mason Hub, Eryn Johnson, Rhylee Hub, Bryson Johnson, Michaela Hub, Reagan Hub, and Brady Johnson; two sisters, Betty Olson of St. Paul, Minn. and Catherine (Robert) Malone of Chippewa Falls.
John was preceded in death by: his wife, Lorraine on Feb. 9, 1994; his parents; a brother, Richard "Dick" Hub; and brother-in-law, Edward Olson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Grace Lutheran Church, 202 W. Grand Ave. in Eau Claire, with Pastor Rolf A. Nestingen and Pastor Vernon Weeks officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Chippewa Falls with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #53.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home WEST CHAPEL, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave. in Eau Claire and one hour prior to services at the church.
