John Langford Obituary

John H. Langford

October 29, 1939 - September 3, 2025

John H. Langford, age 85, of River Falls, WI, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. An esteemed man of faith, John navigated his life's journey with grace, humor and an unwavering love for his family and faith in Christ.

John was born on October 29, 1939 to John and Lucille (Matheson) Langford. He was raised in Menomonie, WI. After high school, he earned a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison through the ROTC program. John proudly served his country with honor. He held many positions including Captain of the Army Medical Service Corp in Camp Zama in Japan.

John married his high school sweetheart, Mary Larson, in 1962. They were blessed with three daughters together.

After the Army, he enjoyed a successful career as a pharmacist and pharmaceutical sales rep. Later he was promoted to Clinical Liaison where his work impacted and saved many lives.

John found his greatest love when he met Patty McNamara. For over 37 years, they shared a remarkable bond characterized by love and laughter, with faith as their foundation. They enjoyed many beautiful adventures, including a trip to Israel. As a couple, John and Patty were a strong presence in their community, working together in numerous ministries, political organizations and outreach programs, most notably, Options for Women in River Falls where John served as Treasurer for several years.

Oh, did John LOVE sports at every level! He was especially proud to attend his grandkids' events. His competitive spirit was never more apparent than in a game of cribbage. John's life was also beautifully enriched by his passion for the outdoors. As an avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, creating treasured memories with his family and lifelong friends.

John will remain in the hearts of his children, Lynn (Randy) Goss, Laura (Rick) Walleen, Jonda (Dan) Martin, Kelly Kimlinger, Colleen Harris; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother William (Carol) Langford and brothers-in-law Dale Nielsen and Don Beseau

He is now reunited with the love of his life, Patricia; sister Jeanne Nielsen; son-in-law John Kimlinger; great-granddaughters Myranda Jones and Lanaia Shumpert; parents John and Lucille.

Visitation will be held from 10 AM on September 29, 2025 at Faith Community Church in Hudson, WI. A Memorial Service to follow at 11 AM to celebrate John's life. Expressions of sympathy and memorials are welcome in any way you wish. Honorary donations may be made to Options for Women/River Falls or a charity of your choice. Burial with military honors will take place at Northern Wisconsin Veteran Cemetery at a later date.
