Marion Geisness Allen, 71, formerly of Rice Lake, Chippewa Falls and Maple Grove, Minn., passed away at her home in the care of her family and friends Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007.
She was born Feb. 16, 1936, to Rolf and Marguerite Geisness. She graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1954. On April 5, 1958, she married Robert H. "Fritz" Allen in Rice Lake.
Marion was a generous and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved spending time at her cottage in New Auburn, playing Spite and Malice, knitting, quilting, Rosemalling and Hardanger.
Marion and her late husband, Robert, owned and operated Sundance Golf and Bowl in Maple Grove, Minn.
Marion is survived by: her children, Karin (Tom) Pettis of Augusta, Jody Allen (fiance, Pat Fisher) of Minneapolis, Matthew Allen of Chippewa Falls and Brian (Michelle) Allen of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren, Derrick (Kristine Markovich) Pettis, Richard Pettis, Nicholas, Sara and Michael Faber, and Samuel and Norah Allen; sisters, Genevieve Heiland of Rice Lake, Lois Hammer of Minneapolis and Kathy (Larry) Flynn of Rice Lake; sisters-in-law, Carole (Charlie) Montemayor of Madison and Cheryl (Daryl) Molitor of Dallas, Texas; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Robert Allen, in 2002; parents, Rolf and Marguerite Geisness; a sister, Colleen Pierson; brothers, Richard and William Geisness; a sister-in-law, Josephine Geisness; and brothers-in-law, Edwin Hammer and Karl "Bud" Heiland.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, with the Rev. Russell Sorensen officiating. Interment will be in Nora Cemetery, Rice Lake.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
A separate memorial will be held at Sundance Golf and Bowl in Maple Grove, Minn., from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9.
In lieu of flowers, her children ask that memorials be given in her name to the American Diabetes Association or the Courage House in Minneapolis.
