Michael "Mike" R. Yohnk, 63, of Cornell, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on Oct. 22, 1949, the son of Rolland and Mildred (McMenamin) Yohnk.
Mike grew up in Cornell and graduated from Cornell High School.
Mike married Donna Popple on June 27, 1970 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Jim Falls.
He was a member of the Army Reserves and he worked at Chippewa Valley Electric in Cornell for 38 years, retiring in 2009. He was an executive board member for IBEW #953 several years, and was a member of the Cornell American Legion.
Mike is survived by: his wife, Donna Yohnk; daughter Lisa (Tim) Brunette; two sons, Brian (Wendy) Yohnk and Kevin (Julie) Yohnk; one grandson, Michael Brunette; his mother, Mildred Yohnk; one sister, Linda (Kim) Beaulieu; three brothers, Thomas (Charlotte) Yohnk, Mark (Diane) Yohnk and Tim (Penny) Yohnk; brothers and sister-in-laws Dick (Pat) Popple, Dennis (Melanie) Popple and Marilyn Popple; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his father, Rolland; one brother, William; his father and mother-in-law, Earl and Agnes Popple; and one brother-in-law, Edward Popple.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cornell, with Fr. Peter Manickam officiating. Inurnment will take place at the Cornell Cemetery at a later date.
Family and friends may call two hours before the funeral Mass Saturday morning at the church.
