Paul V. Rasmus, 78, of 5143 171st Street, Chippewa Falls, town of Lafayette, died suddenly in a bus accident near Osseo, on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005.
He was born on May 4, 1927, in Chippewa Falls, the son of Alvin and Margaret (Haner) Rasmus.
He had worked for Fabco Equipment Inc. (Caterpillar) in Eau Claire as a heavy equipment and product support salesman and demo operator for 30 years, Aring Equipment Inc. in Milwaukee and after his retirement he has been with Chippewa Trails and the Chippewa Yellow Bus Company for the past 13 years.
He served in the 20th U.S. Navy Seabees in the South and Western Pacific during 1944 to 1945 in World War II and was honorably discharged in Lido Beach, Long Island, N.Y. He also served on the Islands of Eniwetok, Saipan and Okinawa Invasions.
He was a member of the 40 & 8, Knights of Columbus Goldsmith Council #974, American Legion Post #77, Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council and Notre Dame Church.
He married Shirley Greenwood on Aug. 5, 1950, at Notre Dame Church, Chippewa Falls.
He is survived by: his wife, Shirley; one daughter, Kathy (George "Roberts") Milbrath of Eau Claire; two sisters, Faye (Emerson) Barton of Ocala, Fla. and Jean (Alfred) Eystad of Chippewa Falls; four grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jamie) Behrens, Lori Rasmus (Shawn), Erik Rasmus and Dustin Milbrath; and six great grandchildren, Jacob, Bo, Taylor, Lindsay, Mason and Madalyn; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his son, Rick Rasmus in 1996; and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at Notre Dame Church, Chippewa Falls. Rev. Brian Jazdzewski and Rev. Daniel DuChez will con-celebrate the funeral Mass. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. Military rites will be conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the Horan Funeral Home, Chippewa Falls. The Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 4 p.m. and there will be a Christian Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. both on Tuesday at the funeral home.
The school kids dearly loved Paul and he loved them back dearly.
