Roger Staves Obituary

Roger W. Staves, 82, of 604 Woodward Ave., Chippewa Falls, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire.

He was born Feb. 28, 1923, in Humbird, Wis., the son of Ervin and Maude (Waters) Staves.

He married Estella Kohn on June 10, 1944, in Fairview, Wis.

He was a dairy farmer and also owned and operated Shady Pine Bar for 13 years.

He was a member of the Tilden Lions Club, Knights of Columbus Goldsmith Council #974 and Holy Ghost Church.

He loved fishing and hunting.

He is survived by: his wife, Estella; seven sons, Roland (Patsy) of Prairie Farm, Whalen (Susan) of Elk Mound, Calvin (Sandy) and Dennis (Tammy) both of Chippewa Falls, Roger and Mark both of Eau Claire and Bernard (Sue) of Ridgeland, Wis.; four daughters, Colleen (Don) Kolpien of Cadott, Deanna (Ron) Durch of Lakeside, Ariz., Carolyn Rodewald of Rice Lake and Yvonne (Clifford) Hakes of Cadott; daughter-in-law, Sue Staves of Eau Claire; several grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: two sons, Charles in infancy and David; his parents; two brothers, George and William Staves; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, at Holy Ghost Church, Chippewa Falls. Rev. Edmund Doerre will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Entombment will be in Hope Mausoleum, Chippewa Falls.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, and until 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Horan Funeral Home, Chippewa Falls. The Knights of Goldsmith Council #974 will recite the rosary at 5 p.m. and there will be a Christian Vigil Service at 6 p.m. both on Sunday at the funeral home.
