Verlon L. Zebro, age 87, of Menomonie, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, at the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie.
Verlon was born on Nov. 25, 1916, in the town of Hay River (Baxterville), Dunn County, to August and Emma (Thompson) Zebro. He married Alpha Engebretson who preceded him in death in 2001.
Verlon was a dairy farmer in the town of Hay River, worked at Eau Claire Sand and Gravel, owned a LP gas business, and owned the Baxterville Store in Baxterville. He resided at the Dunn County Health Care Center the last four years.
Verlon was a hard working, honest man. He also enjoyed old time music, especially polkas.
Verlon is survived by one son, Robert (Dawn) Zebro of Wheeler; one daughter, Linda (Robert) Lorenz of Wheeler; four grandchildren, Kevin (Sonya) Zebro of Boyceville, Brian Zebro of Sparta, Melody Zebro of Wheeler, and Melissa Zebro of Burnsville, Minn.; five great-grandchildren, Megan and Jonathan, Tasha and Austin and Cody; one brother, Lester Zebro of Ridgeland; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alpha; a sister, Mildred Herrmann; a brother, Gerald Zebro; and a daughter, Donna Zebro.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at the Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie with the Rev. Steven Carlson officiating. Burial was in Hay River Cemetery in the town of Hay River.
