Dundee: Walter M. Ovenshire Sr., age 71, of Dundee, NY passed on Thursday February 5, 2026.
Friends may call from 11 to 12 p.m. on Saturday March 7 at the Second Milo Baptist Church 1800-1978 County Rte. 30, Penn Yan, NY; where his Celebration of Life will be held at noon.
Memorial contributions may be made to Second Milo Baptist Church, c/o Susan Gibson, 58 Water St., Dundee, NY 14837.
Walter was born in Penn Yan, NY, the son of Morris A. and Mary E. (Crandall) Ovenshire. He graduated from Penn Yan Academy class of 1972. Married the former Sally E. Nesbit. Walter was a truck driver for over 30 years starting with Casella Waste Systems, and retiring from Lyons Road Trash.
He is survived by his wife, Sally E. Ovenshire at home; a son, Walter 'Wally' (Courtney) Ovenshire Jr.; daughter, Sandra (Jason) Botts; five grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; two sisters, Norva (Don) Wood and Shirley (Steven) Owens; numerous nieces, nephews and his fur baby 'Daisy'.
