John William David, 84, went to be with his Lord on May 29, 2024. He was born on September 11, 1939 in Grant County to Vernon and Ruella (Ehman) David.
John graduated from Swayzee High School in 1957. He married Pamela J. Miller on July 3, 1970. John lived north of Swayzee and Marion then moved to Converse in 1986. John worked at Bell Fiber from September 11, 1957 until December 31, 1965 when he joined the Marion Police Department. He worked as a detective for 17 years and retired as traffic sergeant from MPD in June 1986. He enjoyed developing and printing photographs for many photographers in his home in the 1970's. John worked at Elder Beerman department store as security for 14 years from October 1983 to February 1998 and he also worked at Converse Church of Christ from 1996-2007. He was active in the community and served on the Town Board of Converse from 1998 until January 3, 2021. John attended Converse Church of Christ where he was a deacon and enjoyed teaching Sunday school. He later attended College Corner Brethren Church in Wabash. He loved his Lord, studying the Bible, his wife, children, grandchildren and his dog, Sassi. John was a very loved and respected husband, father, and friend of the Converse community. Always true to his word, an honest and trustworthy man of God.
John is survived by his wife, Pamela David, Converse; sons, Jon (Terri) David, Fort Wayne; Paul (Mandy) David, Marion; Solomon (Alicia) David, Marion; step daughter, Tammi (Mark) Linna, Swayzee; 12 grandchildren, Blakely David, Jacob David, Ava David, Shelby David, Isabel David, Seth David, Isaac David, Rachael David, Alex (Jihee) Linna, Nathaniel (Holly) Linna, Thomas Linna, David (Kaylee) Linna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Daniel David and a brother, Richard Douglas David.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am-noon, Thursday, June 6, 2024 in Converse Church of Christ, 301 East Wabash Street, Converse. The funeral will begin at noon with Pastor Solomon David officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, 50 N County Road N 780 E, Greentown, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to College Corner Brethren Church, 8996 S. 500 W., Wabash, Indiana 46992. Dear Pam and family. So sorry to learn about John´s passing. He was a good man and a good friend. I enjoyed working with him at the Police Department and learned a lot from him. We had some interesting times in those days. I´m praying for you and your family.
