Loretta A. Daniel, 89, passed away Sunday evening at IU Health Blackford Hospital, in Hartford City.
She was born in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, one of six children of the late Martin A. and Agnes G. (Hogan) Bachner. She graduated from high school there in 1950 and married Richard C. "Dick" Daniel on April 11, 1953. He passed on November 23, 2016.
In January of 1966, Loretta and her husband moved their family to Hartford City. Loretta earned her associates degree in medical science from Ball State University in 1980 and was employed at Miller's Merry Manor in Hartford City for over twenty-five years, retiring in January 1996 as a QMA.
A member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hartford City, she was also an enthusiast and advocate of local youth sports.
She leaves behind her four children: Marty (Jan) Daniel of Owensboro, KY, Mike Daniel (Cindy) of Montpelier, Mary (Brian)West of Dunkirk and Matthew (Rose) Daniel of South Bend, her sister, Sarah L. Bachner of Poplar Bluff, MO as well as fourteen grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Martin Bachner and three sisters: Jane E. Sutcliffe, Agnes Rose and Sophia Bachner.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 28th in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 209 S. Spring St., Hartford City, with Father Kevin Hurley as celebrant. Interment will be private.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 27th from 2 – 6 p.m. at Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City. The recitation of the rosary, by Father Hurley, begins at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be Monday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
