Melida Mercedes McDaniel, 75, Marion, passed away at 10:45 pm on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. She was born in Quito, Ecuador on Saturday, June 7, 1947, to Absalon Navarro and Maria Jamarillo. On March 30, 1976, she married Hardey Irving McDaniel, Sr. and he preceded her.
Melida worked as a seamstress for Butterworth Industries and loved sewing at home. She enjoyed butterflies and wind chimes. She was a member of Marion Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include her sons, George McDaniel, Juan (Donna) McDaniel of Marion, Jerry McDaniel; grandsons, Michael Lake, Nathan (Melissa) Hobbs; granddaughters, Amy (Rick) Dodson of Greenwood, Kelly Raver of Marion, Whitney (Chris) Jerger; great-grandsons, Tyler, Austin, Gavyn, Edward, Brent, Ricky Cayden, Max; great grandaughter, Emery; and loved ones, Viola, Joy Hansel and Hardey McDaniel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Absalon Filiberto Navarro and Maria O. Jamarillo; and husband, Hardey Irving McDaniel, Sr.
The family will receive visitors from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Melida's life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Jefferson Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Cancer Services of Grant County Tower Suites 305 S. Norton Ave., Marion, IN 46952.
