Michael Richard Kegg III was a 34-year-old man that lived at Francisco, IN. He was tragically killed on December 31, 2024, while heroically defending himself and his step-mother, Malisa Kegg with whom he made his home to protect her from abuse, she also was killed.
Born on April 3, 1990, in Marion, IN, Michael attended Madison Grant Schools until 2005 and graduated from Oak Hill High School (2008) He served in the US Navy from February 2009 until January 2014 and served on the USS Dwight D Eisenhower. His family cherished him for his loving, caring and goofy nature.
Michael enjoyed various activities, such as gaming, collecting firearms and knives, handling swords, and taking care of reptiles, including owning a pet snake. He also loved driving his Mustang and visiting the ocean. His favorite dish was his mother's (Julia) delicious meatloaf.
He leaves behind a large family, including: His mother, Julia (Cash) Harter, and stepfather, Don Harter, Siblings: Randy Osborn, Ben (Megan) Salyer, Kira (Dane) Seydel, Jeremiah (Ennadalia) Harter, Shanann (Todd) Smalley, Ryan Harter, and Logan Harter. Michael was a proud uncle of Nephew, Liam, and niece, Kathleen Grandparents: Penny (Jeff) Shaffer, Ben Cash, and Michael Kegg Sr. Aunts and uncles: Val Stambaugh, Crystal (Shane) Ward, Brian (Larraine) Stambaugh, Becky (Doug) Moore Amanda Cash. Proceeded in death by Grand Parents Mona Cash, Rose Kegg, Andrew Benedict and Aunt Kathy Kuehner.
The funeral service for Michael has been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Saturday, January 18, 2025, 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM for receiving friends and family, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM Cremation will take place after the funeral service entombment will be at Marion National Cemetery at a later date.
