Patricia "Pat" J. McAfee, 90, Marion, went to be with the Lord at 8:51 pm on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Reynolds, Indiana, on Saturday, August 22, 1931, to Kenneth and Ruth (McCollum) Hankins.
Pat graduated from DeSoto High School (near Muncie). She worked in the town of Eaton at the Eaton Canning Co. until she married James "Doug" McAfee on September 30, 1950. Then she was a homemaker until her children reached high school age. At that time, she went to work in retail. Pat was a member of Northeast Church of God. She was active in her church and was a nursery teacher for several years. Pat enjoyed spending time with her family and being involved in their activities.
Survivors include her sons, Danny (Ruth Ann) McAfee of Auburn, Terry McAfee of Marion, and Jim (Sherry) McAfee of Noblesville; daughters, Lori (Michael) Oakley of Indianapolis and Betsy (Joey) Perkins of Swayzee; 25 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara (late Ronnie) Collins and Linda (late Richard) Smith; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Hankins; mother, Ruth (McCollum) Smith; husband, James "Doug" McAfee; son, Timmy McAfee; daughter, Susan Taylor; grandson, Daniel Ryan Christie; brother, Robert Hankins; and sister, Mary Smith.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Pat's life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Rueben Schweiger officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
