Patsy Ruth Young, 100, passed away in Aperion, Marion on April 23, 2024. Pat was born and raised in Marion the daughter of the late Kenneth and Georgia (Bocock) Pinkerton.
She married Cleome "Smokey" Young in June 1941 and he preceded her in death. Pat was well known around the community. She worked at the former RCA and then with Smokey in his business, Young Amusements. For years she supported and volunteered at the Grant County Senior Center, American Legion Post #10, the Van Buren American Legion, Grant County Amvets, Walkway of Lights Gift Shop, and the Hostess House Resale Shop. Her enjoyment came from helping others. She enjoyed camping, working in the yard, reading, crocheting, sewing, and going to rummage sales. With her crafting skills she would make Poppy's for the VA and Gorgeous quilts for family and friends. Her all time favorite pastime was dancing and her and Smokey taught line dancing at both the Legion and Grant County Senior Center. For several years they were honored to perform at the Indiana State Fair. Pat was a long time member of the Church of God.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Michael) Bernier, Marion; daughter-in-law Linda Young, Huntsville, Ohio; granddaughters, Lisa (Mark) Grant, New Jersey; grandsons, Michael P. Young, Ohio; Jason Curtis, Marion; many great-grandchildren.
She is also preceded in death by her sons, James Young, Darrell Young and Michael Young; sister, Bonita Speicher; granddaughters, Chantel Young Weigand and Taci Young, great-granddaughter, Cloe Hodge, 10 and later companion Max Mauller.
Visitation will be held from 1-2pm on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Owen-Weilert-Duncan Marion Chapel, 2722 South Washington Street, Marion, Indiana. The service will begin at 2:00 in the funeral home.
