Steven Donald Tinkle departed this life May 23, 2024. He passed in Tampa, Florida home after an extended illness of Heart Failure and COPD.
Steve was born in Marion, Indiana on April 27, 1957 to James Donald and Barbara J. Tinkle. He was the third of five children and is survived by his brother, Chan (Theresa) Tinkle of Clearwater, Florida, sister, Ann (Steve) Rademaker of Fort Wayne, Indiana and brother, Rick (Suzanne) of Indianapolis, Indiana; stepmother, Mary Jane Tinkle, Marion. He was preceded in death by his parents and also his younger brother, Andy.
He was especially fond of his 9 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He had pictures of them all around and delighted in hearing news about them.
He utilized social media to the best in keeping up with what everyone was doing and took delight in everyone's stories, events, travels and milestones.
Steve graduated from Bishop Bennett High School 1974 and St. Meinrad College Seminary in 1979. He attended the American College of the Immaculate Conception Graduate Seminary in Louvain Belgium for three years.
He had been an avid and skilled golfer and began to follow the path to possible entry to the PGA before he decided to enter the seminary. He was a lifelong learner and graduated from high school in 3 years and college in 3 years while completing a double major. He had a love of reading and literature and Sacred Scripture. He was very impacted by the spirituality of the Benedictine Monks and St. Meinrad and lived a simple reflective life. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Tampa. He enjoyed cycling and swimming and completed numerous triathlons and Iron Man events. He was employed at Quest Diagnostic Ameripath Labs.
Visitation will be held from 11am-noon in the narthex of St. Paul Catholic Church, 1031 West Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. The funeral mass will be celebrated at noon with Rev. Theodore Rothrock officiating.
