Thomas Rex "Tom" Smith, 79, of Gas City, passed away at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Wesleyan Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. He was born in Grant County on October 20, 1942, to Paul and Minnie (Montgomery) Smith.
Tom graduated from Poling High School in 1963. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Thomas worked as a Forklift Operator for over 35 years with RCA in Marion until his retirement.
Tom enjoyed fishing and camping. He was an avid football, basketball, and wrestling fan. Tom cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.
Survivors include his sons, Donald (Angie) Smith of Gas City and Daniel (Tina) Smith of Marion; daughters, Becky Smith of Gas City and Mandy (Shadara) Smith of Gas City; brothers, Bob (Arlene) Smith, Jim (Janet) Smith, and Dave (Trina) Smith; several nieces, nephews, and friends; and his beloved dog, Lucky.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Smith; mother, Minnie Smith; wife, Cecilia "Kay" Smith; brother, Chuck Smith; and sisters, Edna Strahm and Hazel (Gayle) Spaulding.
The family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main Street, Gas City, IN.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Tom's life will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, November 29, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel. Pastor Mick Simpkins will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Eastview Wesleyan Church 414 N. 10th St., Gas City, IN 46933.
