Troy Brown Obituary

Troy Alan Brown, 50, of Gas City, Indiana, reunited with his dad in heaven at 4:10 am on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. He was surrounded by his loving family, just 367 days after he suffered an ascending aortic dissection and stroke.

Troy was born on Easter Sunday, April 11, 1971, to the late Ronald R. Brown and Pamela S. Hensley. When Troy was 15 years old, he met the love of his life, Stacey Jo McCormick. They were married in 1989 and had three awesome kids. Troy graduated from Mississinewa High School in 1989 and then from Harrison College with a degree in Paramedic Science. After ten years in EMS, Troy didn't feel he had enough on his plate, so he added on another profession in Retail Management with Walmart, where he traveled the country setting up and opening Walmart stores for about 15 years. He then went back to dedicating his life to EMS. Over the years, Troy has obtained multiple credentials in emergency medical services with his most cherished being an EMS Primary Instructor. Troy had a passion for teaching the younger generation of EMS to follow his love of Emergency Medicine. His motto was "You are only as good as the people you have under you". Troy dedicated over 25 years of his life to the EMS field, and his only hope was that his students carry on the love, dedication, and passion that he had for his chosen profession.

Troy had the biggest personality of anyone you could ever possibly meet. It was his mission in life to make people smile and laugh, and he did that every day by just being Troy.

He is survived by the love of his life of over 35 years, Stacey Jo Brown; children: Cortney Jo (Carlos) Santiago of Little Rock, AR; Alanna Lin Brown of Gas City; and Kye Robert (Ashley) Brown of Gas City, who will always love him more than their luggage; four amazingly perfect grandchildren who are his pride and joy: Amelia Jo and Anderson Troy of Little Rock, AR; Gracelin Mae of Gas City; and Zion Robert Ray of Gas City; mother and step-father, Pam (JD) Ramsey of Fairmount; step-mother, Valerie Brown of Hubbard, OH; mother-in-law, Linda McCormick of Gas City; brothers: Ronald (Beth) Brown of Gas City; Daniel Patrick Shearer of Indianapolis; Tom (Margo) Senek of Hubbard, OH; and Timothy (Brenda) Brown of Savannah, GA; brothers-in-law: Rob McCormick of Gas City and Curt (Angie) McCormick of Gas City; many step-brothers, step-sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his best friend and partner in crime, Roy Eib.

Troy is also survived by many, many brothers and sisters of the EMS field, including Seals Ambulance, Grant County EMS, and Gas City Rescue Squad.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Ronald Ray Brown; father-in-law, Robert "Bob" McCormick; all of his maternal and paternal grandparents and great-grandparents; great-nephew, Brodie Kent; four grandbabies; and his precious Yorkie, Carni.

The family would like to thank Seals Ambulance, Grant County EMS, and Transcare Ambulance for the countless times they transported Troy to and from hospitals and appointments over the past year. The love they have for their fellow EMS brother is indescribable, and we can't thank you enough. They would like to also thank Christy Bernardin and Troy Holloway for their unwavering support and help whenever it was needed.

In Troy's words, "Do something good to help someone – a kind word, a handshake, or a smile."

The family will receive visitors from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

On Monday, July 12, 2021, a funeral service to celebrate Troy's life will begin at 11:30 am. Pastor Gary Bryan will be officiating.
