Joan Chipkar Obituary

Mrs. Joan Chipkar (née Bellandi}) died peacefully in Hospice House of Citrus County on February 13 2018 in Lecanto Florida at the age of 85.
Joan is survived by her husband, Joseph Chipkar; children; Judith Tear. Jody Rhoda, of Florida and Joe Chipkar, Whitehall PA; grandchildren; Shaunna Johnson, Dallas Wagner, Shilo Wagner, Sherice Rhoda and Alex Sidor, great grandchildren: Jasmine Johnson, Hailey Johnson, Luke Taylor, Jackson Taylor and Dax Cannon. She is preceded in death by great grandson, Landon Johnson, of Bonifay FL.
Joan was born on March 27, 1932 in Williamsport PA to Ruth and Richard Bellandi. She graduated from Williamsport High School and went to work for Bell Telephone. She married Joseph Chipkar in 1954. The family moved to the area of Allentown PA in 1968, Joan began working for Car dealerships in sales leasing. Over the nest twenty years she spent a successful career in sales working with fortune five hundred companies. She continued to work in Florida until her 82 birthday.
Joan was accomplished at working with nonprofit agencies and often volunteered for difficult projects. She was a witty and dedicated individual who loved working with the YMCA and Animal Rescue Agencies. She was passionate about bringing a YMCA to Citrus County and served on the original steering committee. Joan was best known for her community service with her service dog Charlie, the rescued cocker spaniel from Hurricane Charlie. She spent many hours visiting Hospice House of Citrus County. She was an active and dedicated member of St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
Joan Chipkar was a leader within her family, friends and community. She always felt she should use her voice for the silent. She served as a great role model to her children and grandchildren and taught them that anything was possible with hard work and fortitude. If she had a life motto it would be "Be the change in the world."
A Celebration of Life will be held for close family and friends sometime in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the animal rescue agency of your choice. The family would like to thank Hospice House of Citrus County for their loving care and dedication.
