Joe Runkle Obituary

Joe H. Runkle, 84, of Inverness, Florida, passed away October 14, 2008. He was born May 11, 1924, in Peru, Indiana, moving to Inverness 48 years ago from there.
He was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran. He was a retired Meter Supervisor for Sumter Electric Co-op.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Joann Runkle, in 1998.
He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Ann Jones of Inverness and Diana Jo Plevell and husband John of Citrus Springs, FL; brothers, Kenneth Runkle and wife Marjorie of Ft. Myers, FL, Donald Runkle and wife Jean of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Hubert Runkle and wife Roberta of Indiana; sister, Norma Pugh and husband Med of Georgia; grandchildren, Paul J. Crowder Jr. and wife Rosemary, Michael Crowder and wife Becky, Rebecca Groom and husband Chris; great-grandchildren, Briana Jo Crowder, Courtney Ann Crowder, Kaitlyn Marie Crowder, Christopher B. Groom Jr. and Kylar Gage Lashley; numerous nephews and nieces, including niece Suzanne Pollard; and dear friends, Richard and Maggie Westfall.
The Service of Remembrance for Mr. Runkle will be held 2:00 PM Monday, October 20, 2008, at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of service Monday, at the chapel. Private interment will be at Florida National Cemetery at a later date.
