Kenneth Roberts Obituary

Longtime local businessman and Marion County native Kenneth E. Roberts, 74, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017 in Ocala. Kenny was a third generation funeral director and the owner of Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon. He spent his entire life serving others in many capacities, including the Ft. King Lion's Club, the Marion Dunn Masonic Lodge, the Ocala Shrine Club, and the Ocala Scottish Rite Bodies. In his earlier years he worked tirelessly helping families get their children admitted to the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital and Shriners Burn Institute. He was a graduate of the Ocala High School class of 1962, the Dallas Instituteof Mortuary Science in Dallas, Texas, a proud member of the NRA, and was a charter member of the Independent Funeral Directors of Florida. He was a member of Dunnellon Presbyterian Church.
Kenny was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and anything that took place outdoors. One of his greatest joys was boating up and down the Rainbow River, sharing his knowledge of the history of Rainbow Springs.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Patty Cole Roberts, his son Kevin K. Roberts, his daughter Pam Jo Roberts and her husband Alan Skelton, his brother Terry S. Roberts, and his grandchildren Taylor and Cole Roberts, and Ansley, Parker and Sawyer Skelton.
A memorial service for Mr. Roberts will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 16, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church, 21501 W. Highway 40, Dunnellon, with Rev. Jeffrey W. Welch, Pastor Eddie Fulford, and Pastor Russ Randall officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to "Michelle-O-Gram", 21765 SW 106th Lane Road, Dunnellon, FL 34431. Arrangement are entrusted to the staff at his funeral home, Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon, 19939 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Dunnellon.

Kenny was such a fun guy. We shared projects with our Fort King Lions Club members. Kenny and Patty were so kind and thoughtful and we loved them
We have wonderful memories of riding in a truck sitting on hay bales sing Christmas carols @# we rode around Ocala.

I don't know when I didn't know Kenny - my dad always said we were related to him and Terry - I've still got to figure that one out. Regardless, he was a family friend for sure and a neighbor in Ocala for quite awhile.
