Lawrence Manning Kellam

Lawrence Manning Kellam, Lt. Col. (Ret.) U.S. Army, died peacefully at The Neighborhood at Tellico Village in Loudon, TN, on December 27th, 2015.
Born May 20th, 1919 in Binghamton, New York, he was the son of Dr. Lawrence J. Kellam and Ruth Manning Kellam of Crestmont Road. Larry graduated from Binghamton Central High in 1937 and graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in forestry. He was also a graduate of the Army War College.
He was married in Washington, DC, in 1943 to Barbara A. Kellam, nee Lynch, of Berkshire N.Y.
Larry was predeceased by his wife, Barbara, in January 1998. He is survived by his brother Dr. Robert T. Kellam of Orlando, FL; his sister Marilyn Tannenhaus of Homosassa Springs, FL; and his brother Dr. David A. Kellam of Sanford, FL. He is also survived by his twin children: daughter Diane J. Carter of Loudon, TN; and son Lawrence M. Kellam, Jr. of East Sandwich, MA.
He served in the U.S. Army for over 34 years, including service in both World War II and Korea. He was wounded, and received The Purple Heart, in both conflicts. His last assignment in the military was as the liaison officer between Strike Command (now Central Command in Tampa, FL) and the Pacific Fleet (in Honolulu, HI).
Larry was an active member of the Seven Rivers Golf and Country Club in Crystal River, FL for many years.
A private memorial service will be held at The Florida National Cemetery at Bushnell on Friday, January 29th, 2016 at 11 AM. www.clickfuneralhome.com
