Martin (Marty) Michael Dolley, 84, of Dunnellon, FL, passed away on January 26, 2025, at home under the loving care of his family and HPH Hospice. Marty was born in Queens, NY, on September 11, 1940, one of six children to the late Martin Michael Dolley and Margaret (Baroni) Dolley, and moved to Citrus County in 1986 from Mt. Upton, NY. He was a retired operating engineer in the construction industry and served our country in the Naval Seabees. Marty was a devoted Catholic and a proud union and VFW member.
Marty had many passions - racing homing pigeons, collecting Lionel trains, farming, woodworking, and volunteering in 4H, to name a few. He spent many years trailering cattle and horses to shows for his grandchildren, friends, and anyone who needed a ride. He was also known for helping his neighbors, friends, and others at any time of day or night. Marty also proudly spoke fluent Spanish and Italian, his Mother Margaret's native language.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Diana (Wandell) Dolley, of Dunnellon, FL; three children, Jonathan (Jamie) Stark of New York, NY, Marnie (Bill) Ward of Inverness, and Lisa Gray of Dunnellon, FL; and six grandchildren, De, Megan, Rebecca, Diana, Will, and Grace. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, January 30, at 11:00 AM from Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church of Beverly Hills. The Rev. Fr. Gregory Andrews will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow on Friday, January 31, at 9:30 AM at Florida National Cemetery. The Marion County Honor Guard will render Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

Diana, I'm so sorry to hear of Marty passing. Bob Greiner and I raced pigeons with him a few years back. He was a great guy. I lost Bob in 2021. You have your family to help you through this tough time. I know you are a strong lady. Rest in peace Marty

I met Marty a few years ago. From the beginning, he treated like a lifelong friend. He never hesitated to offer a hand when someone needed help. That´s just the kind of person he was. I feel blessed to have had him as a friend.
