Patrick S. Fitzpatrick, Sr., 66 of Crystal River, FL passed away Wednesday morning June 7, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 16, 1956, in Ocala, FL, to the late Inverness attorney Charles B. and Dorothy Fitzpatrick.
Pat was raised in Inverness, the youngest of five boisterous boys. Graduating from Citrus High School in 1975, he was awarded football first team All-State his junior and senior years and in the CHS Scholastic Hall of Fame. While in high school he played football, golf, track, and basketball.
Pat went to Marion Military Institute on a football and baseball scholarship during his first two years of college. He finished his college career as an offensive lineman with the Clemson Tigers, playing his last game at the Gator Bowl in 1978 against Ohio State, winning 11-9. During his time at Clemson, he made lifelong friendships and met his wife, Laura Lou Tolle, while visiting home for the 4th of July in 1978. On their first date he knew she was the one and told her he would make her fall in love with him.
After leaving Clemson he returned to Citrus County and married Laura Lou on June 7, 1980, at the Plantation Inn, starting their life together in Crystal River. They started a family with their children, Shane, Erin, Elaina & Elisha. During this time, he served on the Mosquito Control Board and was an active leader in the community, finding time to volunteer coach Little League football and baseball, and also was an announcer at the Crystal River High School Football games.
Pat started his banking career at First Federal Savings and Loan before going into real estate and appraising with his late father-in-law, Ed Tolle. Pat returned to banking until the end of his career.
Pat was considered the voice of reason while serving on the City Council of Crystal River. During this time, he was nominated for Citizen of the Year.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles B. Fitzpatrick, brothers Spike Fitzpatrick, Timmy Fitzpatrick, and Kevin Fitzpatrick. He is survived by his loving wife Laura Lou of Crystal River, FL, his son Shane Fitzpatrick and his wife Alyse of Inverness and their children Trace and Brantley, daughter Erin Marrero, her husband Matt of Davie, FL and their children Payton, Matthew and Elijah, daughter Elaina Ryals, her husband Matt of Leland, NC and their children Dean, Dylan and Sadie, daughter Elisha LeMieux, husband Tyler of Gulf Hammock, FL and their children Lilly, Vaden, and Jaxon, his mother Mrs. Dorothy Fitzpatrick of Inverness, FL, a brother Mike Fitzpatrick and his wife Brenda of Inverness, FL, several nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous dear friends.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1pm on Tuesday June 13th at Gulf to Lake Church in Crystal River, FL with Pastor Lloyd Bertine presiding. Public viewing is from 12 pm until service time at the church. Interment will follow at the Crystal River Historical Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Strickland Funeral Home and Crematory, Crystal River, FL.

My Condolences to the family of Mr. Pat Fotzpatrick. I am the sister of one Pat friends Darryl Tyson, and I had the chance of running into Pat at City Hall a few times. I can tell you that he was very nice and kind, he always spoke and smiled. Pat's passing has really put a damper on my brother Darryl, I was the one who broke the newsbro him and I could hear in Darryl's voice that it really hit him
I just want the family to know that we share your pain and are PRAYING for all of you, May our Father GOD give each of you Love, Comfort & Understanding during your time of Bereavement & Healing In JESUS Name Glory Hallelujah Amen
