Richard Walter Chandler, age 78, Inverness, FL passed away at home under the loving care of his family and HPH Hospice on October 23, 2023.
Beloved Husband, Father, and Pop Pop, "Rich" was born on July 3, 1945 to the late Libert T. Chandler and Isabelle (Goodman) Kline in Norwalk, CT and came to this area from Dowagiac, MI in 1980. He was the founder and former owner of Protech Appliance Repair for many years. He served our country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Inverness.
Rich was always the life of the party. He loved family, the beach, bodysurfing, traveling, and tinkering with everything. He always had a story to tell, advice to give, and was sentimental at an instant. Rich often quoted 'IT'S GREAT TO BE ALIVE'!
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 45 years, Deborah Kay (Privett) Chandler; 5 children: Kathleen (Tony) Rinaldi, Inverness, FL; Shannon (Jim) Castonguay, Inverness, FL; Robert (Jennifer) Chandler, Viera, FL; Richard (Kelly) Chandler Jr, Inverness, FL; Chad (Mollie) Chandler, Lecanto, FL; 1 sister: Deborah Chandler (Kent) Thomas, Trumbull, CT; 2 brothers: Christopher Shaw and Richard Shaw, both of Yarmouth, ME. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Shaw. Rich is also survived by 10 grandchildren: James Kuter, Alexis Chandler, Elizabeth (Eddy) Valenz, Annaliese Chandler, Madison Chandler, Matthew Rinaldi, Olivia Chandler, Leanndra Chandler, Sloane Chandler, Everlie Chandler, and 1 great-grandchild, Kendon Chandler and Caretaker Catherine Savage.
There is a Celebration of Life scheduled on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. from the Cornerstone Baptist Church. The Rev. Michael Kramer, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Inverness and Bishop Douglas Alexander, pastor of the Church Without Walls will co-officiate.
