Richard Davis Obituary

Richard "Merrill" Davis Sr., 76, of Seaford, Delaware, passed away on January 2, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. "Merrill" was born in Staytonville, Delaware, a son of the late Ralph Hunter and Ellen Jester Davis. "Merrill" retired from DuPont in Seaford with over 30 years of service. He enjoyed bowling, surf fishing, playing golf, woodworking, and baking cookies for his grandchildren. A favorite pastime was fishing on his 31ft. Chris Craft boat. Cherished family memories include his love of traveling to Florida and his 21 years of living in Citrus Springs, Florida. He was a member of Hope Evangelistic Church in Florida.
Mr. Davis is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Linda Lee Hutchison Davis; a son, Richard Davis Jr. of Virginia; his daughters, Connie Leigh Davis of Virginia, Ilene Rene Hearn (Samuel) of Laurel and Diane Linda Turner of Ocean View; grandchildren, Roger Griffith Jr., Tina Rene Passieu, Chelsea Dawson, Cara Price, Erin Johnson, Jessica Davis, Amy Denston and Brooke Fairbank; great-grandchildren, Taylor Murphy, MacKenzie Murphy, Brock Griffith, Gavin Passieu, Tyler Hare, Braxton Wood, Lily Bruce; great-great-grandchild, Tatum Wood. His siblings, Dawn E. Argo of Greenwood, Ralph H. Davis Jr. (Doris) of Milton, Deanna L. Tull (Melvin) of Federalsburg, Larbert Tull of Salisbury, Byard Davis ( Betty Jean) of Florida, Jeneen Nepert (Wayne) of Federalsburg, and Keith Davis (Sylvia) of East New Market. His sister-in-law, Penny Dale Milligan and husband Van. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Christ Evangelistic Church 9802 Camp Rd Laurel, Delaware. The Rev. Roland Tice will officiate. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in his memory, to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or Compassionate Care Hospice 28467 DuPont Boulevard, Suite 6, Millsboro, DE 19966 or Ronald McDonalds House 26345 Network Place Chicago, IL 60673-1263.
