Robert Burgess Obituary

Robert Paul (Papa) Burgess, age 72, passed away on December 28, 2023 in Inverness, Florida. Robert was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida and relocated to Inverness FL in 2016 to be closer to family.

Throughout his life, he worked at several careers, from managing produce at Kash N Karry Supermarkets, crisscrossing the country as a truck driver for MD Trucking, and as a salesman in the parts department for Crown Jaguar.

Robert dedicated a part of his life in service to his country, serving the National Guard and driving trucks during his military tenure. A man of varied interests, he immersed himself in the worlds of literature, particularly military history, and took a keen interest in the Vietnamese culture.

He was interested in all kinds of aircraft and enjoyed attending air shows. When working at Albert Whitted Airport in St. Petersburg, FL as a young person, he got his private pilot's license. His passion for reading and learning about the intricacies of our world set him apart and gave him knowledge on a wide range of subjects. In his memory, Robert leaves a legacy of hard work, dedication and a genuine curiosity about the world around him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Robert is survived by his daughter Cristina Jablonskis (Ian) of Inverness; sisters Marilyn Park of Clermont, FL and Carol Schwartz of Avon, CO; and his eight-year-old grandson Liam Jablonskis.

Private cremation arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home 3075 S. Florida Ave., Inverness, FL 34450.

Bobby, I miss you every day and think of you often. After all, we grew up playing in our underware. My mom took a picture of us up in an grapefruit tree behind our home. God bless you and I'll see you again someday.

I grew up across the street from the Burgess Family. I never knew Bob lived in Inverness. I sure would have looked him up. My best memory of Bob is when he came home with that beautiful 1970 Black Z28 Camero. He also was a good guitar player in his day-Godspeed Bob from your friend.

Bob was a good friend and we enjoyed chit chat on his old truck tailgate from time to time. I will miss him!
