Robert Newhall Obituary

Mr. Robert E. Newhall, 87, of Homosassa, Florida, left to be with Jesus on Thursday, October 31, 2024. Bob was born on November, 24, 1936, and grew up in Possumtown, a small New Jersey town.

He met his wife Roberta in Bound Brook, and they enjoyed life together for over 60 years. Bob was a loving husband and a father of their three children, Barbara, Bob, and Bill. He and his family enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, fishing, and celebrating holidays and birthdays with extended family during many get-togethers.

Bob's dedication to service in the community was evident throughout his life. He was a fire chief of the Bound Brook Fire Department and a member of fire company no. 2 for over 60 years, he served with the Bridgewater Special Police, he volunteered for the New Jersey National Guard, and he was a member of the Bound Brook Elks Club. He coordinated the rescue and firefighting events as fire chief during the 1971 Doria storm in New Jersey. Bob was employed as a network engineer at New Jersey Bell (aka Verizon) for over 30 years.

After retiring, Bob and Robbie set off on an exciting 6-year adventure. They sold their home and set out full-time on the road in their new motorhome. They traveled to all points in the United States, including Alaska, and crossed over into Mexico and Canada. While traveling around the country they found their "forever home" in Homosassa, Florida. They enjoyed many happy years in retirement with special friends, especially Nick and Ann Schultz.

Bob and Robbie attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bound Brook while in New Jersey and then St. Scholastica in Homosassa, Florida.

Bob is predeceased by his beautiful wife, Robbie, and he is survived by his children and their spouses, Robert Newhall II and Jodie Lee; William and Ileana Newhall; and Barbara Ruebush and her partner Paul W. Barbiche II. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Allen; his brother George Newhall and his wife Connie.

Friends and family are welcome to join a service for Bob at the Hooper Funeral Home at 8495 West Grover Cleveland Ave, in Homosassa on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 2 pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
