Mr. & Mrs. Detmer, Andrea and Jon...
There was a time in my life where you guys were a large part. A time that is well missed. Steven accepted my right from the start - whispering to me kind words and advice. It seems that Steven didn't care who you were or where you came from - he would always take anyone under his wing and guide them. I can't help but sit here and smile; remembering our conversations-although few and brief; very enlightening. He was a man that carried himself with the kind of confidence every person tried to imitate. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to meet him and you guys. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

I am so sorry to hear about Steve. He was one of the first people that actually made me feel comfortable with the military when I got to Luke. I really enjoyed hanging out with him and working with him. He was a great guy and he will be missed by many. Sorry for your loss.

I am so very sorry to hear about Steve. He was a truly one of a kind man, and someone that you could always count on. I didn't get to know him as well as I might have liked to, but when I did know him he was one of the best men I ever had the priviledge of knowing. I can't begin to say how he had helped me through all of the times I needed help. May God rest him and keep him.

I will never be able to express how much Steve helped me along the way. He was the first person to train me and he never stopped trying to teach me the right way to do things. Michele and kids, my heart truly aches for the loss you must feel and I pray for you to find solitude and peace in the lifetime to come. I am very sorry to hear about Steve. Steve was a good man, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand if needed. I spent 8 years around Steve while at Luke, and he is one of the people that I will never forget from that assignment. My prayers are with you and your family.

Please accept our deepest sympathy for your loss. I'm so very proud to have been a part of Steve's life. I remember the first time I saw him out of his Air Force uniform. He was wearing those giant baggy pants, big wallet with the chain and the wikity wackd hat. My first thought was, "what are the recruiters sending us now?" It turns out they sent us someone wonderful, willing to work very hard, learn new things and take on responsibilities that an average man/airman would not. I was so happy for both of you when you got married. Good memories. Please remember you will all be together again one day and may God bless you all.

You all have been part of my extended family for a very long time, and Steven has been the only brother I have ever known sense I was five years old. Yet I sit here balling cause I cant think of anything to say or any excuses for not having kept in better contact with him or you guys in the last few years.
Steven was my best friend and My True brother, and there will not be a day that goes by that he will not be in my thoughts. I am so sorry that I can not make it to stand by your side to send him off to stand amongst the angels. But know that he will be forever missed in my house as well.

I am so sadden to hear about one of our own. It has been a very tough year for our Luke members especially our POL family. We all have to keep our faith strong and continue to keep our heads up high and treasure every moment we have we our loved ones. No one expects any of this to happen, Tom Smith you couldn’t have said any better “God needed him in Heaven for bigger purpose”.

I've been here at Luke for 19yrs, I've seen alot of people come and go, and Steve was one of the best. He was always the professional, willing to go the extra mile, a work ethic that is a credit to his upbringing. We don't understand why good people are taken so young, but obviously God needed him in Heaven for a bigger purpose.
