Wencel Kareis Obituary

Wencel S. Kareis, 86, of Homosassa, FL, went home to be with his Heavenly Lord and Savior on Jan. 2, 2018. He was born in Chalfont, PA on Nov. 21, 1931 and was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Agnes Kareis, as well as twin brother Joseph and brother Paul (his wife Dorothy) and brother-in-law Frank. He is survived by the love of his life, Jean S. Kareis, after a loving marriage of 62 years; his children: Debra J. Otis (Jeffrey); Laurie S. Brown (James) and John D. Kareis; brother Robert (Dorothy) and sister Agnes, as well as his grandchildren Jeriah W. Otis, Jean K. Brown and Jane S. Brown and sister-in-law Sue Kareis. Wence, as he was known to Many, served honorably with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict as Airman First Class. He was employed in the toy industry for 41 years, retiring in 1996 to the home he and Jean built in Homosassa. To know Wence was a gift. He never met a stranger. He lived out his faith to the end of his earthly struggle and rested on the promise of Isaiah 40:31, "But they that hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they shall soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary and they will not be faint." And finally, Philippians 4:4, "Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say REJOICE." A Celebration of Life will be held on Mon., Jan. 8, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. from Grace Bible Church, 6382 W. Green Acres St., Homosassa, FL 34446 with Pastor Ray Herriman officiating. Inurnment at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Grace Bible Church or Friends of Israel. Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa. www.wilderfuneral.com

Benjamin Stoddard

January 8, 2018

Wence meant a great deal to three generations of the Stoddard family. His kindness, generosity and friendship through the years will not be forgotten. He was much loved and will be greatly missed. We know that he is rejoicing with Dick Stoddard in heaven. We send our prayers and deepest condolences to Jean and the family.

On a personal note, I will never forget how excited Wence was when he found out I was going to study in Hong Kong for a semester. He and Jean had our family over for Chinese food. Wence gave me a book on Hong Kong and sat and shared fond memories of his many trips to this special place. Our love of Hong Kong was always a special bond we shared and I'm forever grateful for his friendship.

To have had the earthly privilege of knowing Wence was truly a blessing from our Lord. He was a devoted servant of our Lord and a friend to all.
