Fannie WHITESIDE Obituary

WHITESIDE Fannie Louise Bailey age 105 of Marvell, Arkansas, daughter of a former slave, passed away on Monday, July 26 at the Glendale Place Care Center, Woodlawn, Ohio. Her parents were Evaline Lucado Bailey and Alford Bailey. She was one of 13 brothers and sisters, all deceased. She came to Hamilton, Ohio in the mid-twenties. She was the mother to James Whiteside (Vivian) of Gary, IN, Joyce Dorsey (James) of Glendale, OH and Earl Whiteside (Kingcess) of Arlington, TX. She was also the mother of Larry Whiteside, deceased and the wife of Luther Whiteside, deceased. Although she never completed school in the South, she continued to take classes at the Booker T Washington Community Center in Hamilton and all of her children graduated from college with at least a Masters Degree. She leaves behind 15 great grand children, 3 great great grandchildren and a host of very close relatives and friends. Some of the family root names are: Ruperts, Pattons, Baileys, Stones, Davis, Bradburys, Whitesides, Hamptons, Hendrix, Lucado. She was extremely active and walked everywhere. She never took any medicine. Fannie was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Hamilton, Ohio since the early 1930's. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and wife who always cared for children. She loved gardening and kept a garden until she was 100 years old. She also liked cooking and one of the favorites of the family was her fried apple pies. She also was an expert in canning fruits and vegetables. She was always very straight forward with her views and this continued into her later life. A special thanks to the staff of the Glendale Place Care Center. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00am at Second Baptist Church 1217 S Second St. Hamilton, OH.
