Jim WYCOFF Obituary

WYCOFF

Jim Wycoff died Sunday, August 11, at Mercy Anderson Hospital due to a clot in the small intestine. He was born in Zanesville, Ohio, the home of the Y-Bridge and Tom's Ice Cream Bowl. After graduating from Z.H.S. in 1967, Jim was directed by OSU's coach Woodie Hayes to head southeast to Athens, Ohio and to, what came to be, his "beloved "Ohio University. He graduated in 1971 with a degree in economics and math. He was senior class president, varsity football manager, and Phi Kappa Sigma, "the Skulls", rush chairman. Upon graduation, He worked for P.&G. in sales and continued that career path with the Anchor Hocking Corporation. In 1981, Jim made a daring career move from sales to finance with E.F.Hutton. Through the years, Jim changed firms, but remained steady on his career path. In 1995 he opened the first Raymond James Financial Services Office in Cincinnati. He was proud to be an independent owner and to solely represent Raymond James. He hosted "The Jim Wycoff Money Hour" on 55KRC for 20 years. Jim was active in the Cincinnati and OU communities, serving on many advisory boards too numerous to list. Jim was passionate about connecting with friends and Ohio University. He, along with fellow alum, Tom Starr, were instrumental in the creation and development of the Schey Sales Centre at OU and the Masters of Economics program. Jim received the Ohio University Distinguished Service Award in 1999, the Ohio University College of Arts and Sciences 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award, and in 2013 the Alumnus of the Year Award will be given to Jim posthumously. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Suzi, two canine "buddies", his sister, Susie, and nieces and nephews. Jim's life will be celebrated Saturday, August 24 at Montgomery Inn Boathouse from 2:00 PM-5:00 PM. Friends are asked to share fond memories which will be compiled into a "Wacbook". In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in "Jim Wycoff's name" to "The Ohio University Foundation" and "designated" for the "Jim Wycoff Fair/Unfair Advantage Sales Centre Outstanding Student Award" PO box 869, Athens, Ohio 45701 or online at www.ohio.edu/give. Not sure what to say?

September 15, 2013

Suzi, I'm so very saddened to hear of Jim's pasing. I worked cloesely with WAC when we were organizing the Kappes Honorarium event several years ago. What started out over a few beers between several of my football buddies that had no clue how to get started, instnatly crystalized with action once Wac singed up to participate. Since that day, I've been a fan of Jim and always enjoyed his friendship. When my daughter enrolled at OU in 2009, Jim graciously helped her with a letter of reference based on her academic performance.

The OU FB Golf Outing will never be the same without Jim's participation; over the last few years he's been the first guy I'd look up. He will be missed by many Bobcats.

Jim was far and away my greatest advocate during the early stages of my career. He always knew the right thing to say to inspire you - whether it be a lesson learned from experience or a story from the past. Jim was generous, caring, loyal, and had a positive effect on everyone he encountered. My thoughts and prayers go out to Suzi, Sheri and all those who had the opportunity to know Jim. He will be greatly missed.

Jim and I first met in Pedan Stadium, 1968, when he was the FB manager and I the Assistant Athletic Trainer. He also had a close business and friendship with my brother, Tom, that cemented our relationship. He was a outstanding financier, a loyal and supportive OU Bobcat, and an outstanding human being. I considered myself very honored to be called one of his many friends. Thoughts and prayers to Suzi and his family, Larry Starr, OU "68, "71

Jim was sincerely interested in you and a self made success who never forgot his roots in Zanesville, OU, Raymond James, Anchor Hocking, etc. Despite his huge network of friends and coaching, he always had time for you. Suzi you have been blessed and so have we.

I cannot say enough kind words about Jim Wycoff. He was a greatly determined, motivated and driven individual. Achieved success in everything he did and strived for himself and the people around him to better themselves and be the best they can be every day. He was a great mentor and the greatest storyteller! I am very saddened by Jim's passing. My heart goes out to Suzi and Sheri for their loss.

Jim was a generous person who touched so many lives in so many ways in which we will not forget. He was my best friend, my business partner, and most important, my mentor. I am so fortunate to have had his friendship for this long and miss him greatly.

Hi Suzie, family and friends.
I met Jim when I was just out of college working for EF Hutton. He, Dick Wilhelm and Tim Wing taught me many things about customer relationships and collegiality. He always made me laugh. I remember his anecdotal stories about selling shoes in Zanesville. Jim was an original and I thank him for his support in launching my post college business experience. Vive le Jim!
