John SILVATI Obituary

SILVATI

John Donald passed to walk with the Lord on May 8, 2014, after a thirty year battle with congestive heart failure. He is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Linda Silvati(nee) Snyder of Cincinnati, four children, Rob Silvati (Karen) of Burlington, KY, Laura Fidell (Beth) of Los Angeles, CA, David (Kim) Silvati of Cincinnati, OH, John P. Silvati of Erlanger, KY and two step children Lauren (Gary) Marsh (nee Forrester) of Hamilton, OH, and Brian Forrester (Brandy) of Cincinnati, OH. Mr. Silvati is also survived by thirteen grandchildren - Eric, Kari, Emily, Devin, Taft, Zane, Andy, Greg, Alex, Lisa, Tori, Brody and Blair. He is also survived by his brother Jerry, his Aunt Helen and Uncle Bernie Hutten and many cousins, nieces and nephews. His parents, Ida and Joseph Silvati, preceded him in death. He was 76 years old. Mr. Silvati, a native Cincinnatian, graduated from Purcell High School and Xavier University, which he attended on a football scholarship. After serving in the U. S. Army, Mr. Silvati returned to Cincinnati and joined Merrill Lynch as a financial consultant. He was made Vice President in 1974 and was the Manager of the Blue Ash office when he retired in 1997. Mr. Silvati has served on the boards of the Dater Foundation and the Ensemble Theater of Cincinnati. He was an avid golfer and served on the board of Kenwood Country Club where he was a member for thirty years. He has also served as an Elder on the Session of Indian Hill Presbyterian Church. Mr. Silvati was loved by everyone who knew him and always had a positive and forward-thinking attitude. In his last days at The Christ Hospital, he bought a car, voted in the primary election the day before he passed, and was more concerned about his family and friends than he ever was about himself. The funeral will be at Horizon Community Church in Newtown, OH on May 17, 2014, with visitation 9:00 -10:30 a.m. and service from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Burial will take place with family at Indian Hill Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Christ Hospital Health Network VAD Program, c/o The Christ Hospital Foundation, 625 Eden Park Drive, Baldwin 200, Ste. 150, Cinti, OH 45202, Purcell Marian High School, or Xavier University. In the last 5 years there have been so many changes and events for which I would have typically called Dad to share news and to hear his wonderful "that's so great to hear" response. I carry with me his positive outlook and steady demeanor. I only hope to become a similar role model for my kids and grandkids.

I first met John as pitcher facing batter 8th grade. He batted from the left and I was a right handed pitcher. I hung a curve ball and he tatooed it over the right field fence. It was the only homer I gave up in my brief baseball career. I knew him at Purcell HS. He was always a gentleman and a friend. My condolences to the family.
