I guess I have known Larry Healy the longest. We grew up together on Edmondson Road 2 houses apart. I would watch their basketball court and join Paul and Jim & Bro when ever they played. We both went to Purcell High School. Doe came in the picture after his stint in the Army. We both served in Japan. He surprised me one day in Kyoto in the mess hall.
After the Army we took different routes, I went to Xavier and he became a stereotyper at the Enquirer.
We both married about 1 year apart, my wife Jane passed away 3 months before our 70th Anniversary. My wife and I moved to St. Martin, Ohio where we had 13 children. We always kept in touch. Last time I saw Bro and Doe was at the Retirement Home for a surprise visit.
Bro and Doe, as I always called them, were great people. I'm sure that our loss will be Heaven's gain.

Mr. Healy was such a gentle and loving man . He and Doe were inseparable. If you saw one, the other was close by...
Mr. Healy would always come to help Doe and all of us lunch room mother helpers in St. Marys cafeteria after he retired . He always was joyous and never complained . He simply loved being with kids and helping out ! His nature was to be kind and thoughtful.
Heaven has just acquired a great man . We will miss him here on earth !! ❤Love from Cheryl, Megan, Corey & Gregory Fast

We loved being across the street neighbors for decades of Larry and Doe.Our only regret is that we stood between the Healy's and the church.(As if anything could stand between the Healy's and the church.) Our Love to Doe and the good life she had together with her beloved Larry.

Larry was a gentle, caring man. I never heard him say a harsh word about anyone. He was a humble veteran. He was Doe's best friend. Doe once told me after one of their significant wedding anniversaries that she was so blessed to still be in love with her best friend. He will be missed.

What a joy it was to know Larry. He was always so caring and friendly. He was so dedicated to St. Vincent DePaul. One time my sister and I had planned to go out to dinner with Larry and Doe. We had to postpone so Larry could help a family in need. Such love for others was his pledge. I will remember him always. A friend/teacher at St. Mary School

How blessed I was to work with Larry and Doe for so many years at St. Mary School. They were our constant. They were indeed the Dynamic Duo. So sorry for the loss of such a gentle man and example to young and old.

So many memories with all the families and the time shared at St. Mary's. Mr. and Mrs. Healy were such a team it makes this all the more difficult to accept. Most recent memory is running into both at the American Legion fish fries; sometimes with Andy there and sometimes Min too. Rest peacefully in the arms of the angels Mr. Healy! From myself and all of the Mackzum families.

My earliest memory of Larry is his holding Doe's hand as they crossed the playground to walk home after an evening meeting at school. Since then their love has always inspired me. Larry and his hearty laugh were always on hand to make a last minute grocery run and of course to grill those famous cheese sandwiches. Doe and family, I am deeply sadden for your lost.

On behalf of the St. Mary St. Vincent de Paul conference and my family, our lives were greatly enriched by our friendship with Larry. Through his devotion to Doe, his family, his friends, and his faith, he set a great example of what a decent man could and should be. He and Ted Wenstrup were the unstoppable forces driving the St. Mary St. Vincent de Paul conference for many years. There are literally 100's of our neighbors who knew him as "Uncle Larry" as he helped them with food or other items. Our children also greatly benefited from Larry's help in the St. Mary kitchen, going with Doe to get day-old bread and discount meat.

Our conference shared some thoughts on Larry. Jay Galla observed: "he was and is, indeed, a good man, in the very essence of that word, good. He will always be an epitome for me." Jane Gardner added: "Larry and Doe were the heart of our parish, the ones we counted on to be a part of everything good, the ones who were interested in us, who shared good thoughts, who made us smile. And laugh."

We give thanks to Larry for showing us the right way to live.

Larry was such a dear man. I will always treasure my memories of chatting with him on Saturday mornings in the St. Mary Undercroft before the Lenten Series. His devotion to his faith and his family shone through always.
My children were sad to hear of his passing, because they too have many memories of Doe and Larry from their grade school days at SMS.
Love to all of you!
