Margaret MAUPIN Obituary
MAUPIN
Margaret Thatcher Maupin, a longtime resident of Terrace Park, died Friday Oct. 3 after a short illness. She was 96. Mrs. Maupin, known as Peggy, was born July 21, 1918 in Atlanta, Ga., the daughter of Mary Adamson Thatcher and Richard Cassin Thatcher. She grew up the middle of five children on Lookout Mountain, Tenn., and went to school there and in Chattanooga. She received a degree from Bradford Junior College in Haverhill, Mass., and then studied at Nursery Training School of Boston, now part of Tufts University. Mrs. Maupin returned home to run a nursery school on Lookout Mountain, where she married Addison Maupin, of Raleigh, N.C., on April 11, 1942. After brief periods in Olive Hill, Ky., and Cleveland, they moved to Terrace Park in 1951. Mr. Maupin died in 1999. Mrs. Maupin is survived by her four children: Mary Maupin of Marshall, N.C.; Addison Maupin of Cincinnati; Elizabeth Maupin of Orlando, Fla., and Margaret Maupin of California, Md. She also is survived by daughter-in-law Linda Maupin, sons-in-law Gary Brumo and Jay Yellen; grandchildren Aaron Brumo, Abel Brumo, Addison Maupin and Giffen Maupin; granddaughter-in-law Jeannie Aquilino and great-grandson Levi Brumo, as well as by her brother, Joseph Thatcher of Lookout Mountain, her sister, Rebecca Thatcher Ayres, of Aspen, Colo., and many nieces and nephews. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 100 Miami Ave., Terrace Park, OH 45174.
