Michael "Blackie" Thomas - Beloved father of Brittany (Jeremy Snell) Blackwell and Chrystal (Keith) Rudolph; Loving "Grandfather Paco" to Kayla, Mikey, Ian, Brenna and Jaxson; Dear brother of Jerry Blackwell and Joann Blackwell; Caring uncle of Amanda, Andrea and Alyssa. Michael played baseball for the Colts. Residence Cincinnati. Passed away on December 7, 2013 at the age of 57. Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 from 6-8pm at the Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 7345 Hamilton Ave., Mt. Healthy. Hey Black -
Time on this earth passes quickly, and only seems like a few weeks ago you spent Thanksgiving with the Georgia gang. We remembered good times with you during Thanksgiving a couple of weeks ago. I guess that holiday is fitting for us, as we are all so grateful to have counted you as a best friend. There is a picture of us hanging on the wall, right next to the sofa. So, I am reminded of you daily. The frame of that picture says, "truly Great Friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and Impossible to forget". Ain´t that the truth. 5 cents (you understand) gave that to me for Christmas many years ago.

I was at my son's baseball game tonight and was remembering days gone by when I'd watch the guys from Providence Hospital play ball out at the Rumpke fields. Mike played with them as well. I remember when all the team got their trophies at the end of the season, Mike gave me his. He said it was mine for being a devoted fan. It's been 30 years ago. I decided tonight I would try to find Mike as many years have past and my boys are now teens. My heart is broken to know he is gone for now. What a wonderful man and good friend he was. I will see you again Mike. Until then your memory will be cherished. XO

In the tough neighborhood where we grew up Mikey was always the peacemaker. We walked to Greener together almost everyday. You always wanted him on your team, no matter what you were playing. I cherish the days of playing "Crosley Field" & pickle in his back yard. Michael, you were a good guy...peace be with you as you cut through the woods to those baseball fields in the sky.

Blackie - Today is your Birthday and we all wished we had the opportunity to tell you several more times Happy Birthday in person.
God wanted a great man up in Heaven with him, unfortunately he picked you too early.
