Eye remember this famous man. He was my principal @ the old Robert A. Taft HS (ie. now known as Robert A. Taft Information Technology High School) at Ezzard Charles and John Street(s) in the West End.
He was firm but approachable. He never had a problem out of me because Eye was a model student.
Eye always spoke to him and he would smile and scurry away on to his next challenge. We seniors pretty much never gave him any lip, because we knew he was a no-nonsense kinda principal.
*May he rest in peace*

Ms. Kathleen DuPree, William the II, William the III, family, friends, and colleagues of Dr. William A. DuPree,
Please accept my deepest and heartfelt sympathy as we mourn the loss of a truly phenomenal human being
Dr. William Arthur DuPree was a brilliant, courageous, concerned, creative, visionary. He recognized the self-worth and potential in every human being. He never hesitated to stand up against and to fight injustice, oppression, and wrong of any kind. He championed the causes of the oppressed and denied. The Duke was especially blessed and gifted with special talents and skills to deal with issues related to our children and to education in general.
Dr. Dupree was a kind and generous mentor who always identified individuals with potential and supported and guided them, and made it possible for them to reach their maximum potential. I will be forever grateful and indebted to him and I was truly blessed to have known him and to have been impacted by his friendship, loyalty, advice, direction, time, trust, and tolerance. I know that whatever humble contributions I made I would not have made without his support, confidence, influence, and trust.
Dr. DuPree loved his Alma Mater, Central State University. He served CSU in many capacities. He fought several courageous battles for CSU and provided great creativity and vision as a member of the CSU Board of Trustees.
Duke, we know that you lived a well rounded, full, productive life. We know about your love for music, travel, Africa, tennis, and sports. We know you were a Renaissance Man.
You did God's will in so many ways. You are loved, trusted and respected by so many. You will live in our hearts and souls forever. Your deeds and accomplishments will be ongoing contributions to this world. The lessons we learned from you, will, surely, be passed on to generations of the future. Duke thank you for your positive and lasting impact. Duke. God bless you always. Duke, "we will see you in the morning".
Very sincerely, respectfully, mournfully, sorrowfully, prayerfully,
Your friend, brother, and colleague
