Drace Johnson Obituary

Circleville Drace Wayne Johnson, 16, of Circleville, OH passed away on 9/29/2025 after succumbing to his injuries from an automobile accident.

Drace was born on December 2, 2008 in Circleville, OH. He was a Junior at Circleville High School and Pickaway-Ross Career & Technology Center where he was a part of the Construction Technologies Program.

Throughout his childhood, Drace participated in youth soccer, pee wee football, youth basketball, little league baseball, cross county, 4-H, and FFA. But, for the past six years, wrestling has been his passion. Drace qualified for the State Tournament in bitty wrestling, received the Wrestling Tiger Pride Award his 8th grade year, and was a two-time, Varsity Letterman and District Qualifier his Freshman and Sophomore year.

In his passing, Drace became a hero by donating his major organs and giving the gift of life through Lifeline of Ohio. He was able to help six individuals around the country in Illinois, New York, Virginia, and Ohio.

Outside of his accomplishments, Drace will be remembered by his kindness, free spirit, and big personality. Drace didn't know a stranger and always strived to put a smile on your face and make you laugh. Despite his grit and tenacity on the wrestling mat, Drace had a soft heart and was an affectionate, thoughtful, and loving person. He will be immensely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Drace is survived by his parents, Emily (Daniel Shockey) Johnson and Derek Johnson; his siblings, Dexter Johnson, Dax Johnson, and his baby sister that's on the way; his great-grandmothers, Elizabeth "Jane" Eberhart and Wilma Curry; his grandparents: Dawn and Christopher Starner, Adam Eberhart, Brenda "Ellen" Harden, and Kevin Johnson; his aunts and uncles, Logan Huff, Rylee Starner, Heather Johnson, John (Allie) Vance, Megan (John) Koch; his best-friend, Landon Martin; his beloved dog, Chewie; and a host of other friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Marie Browning and his grandmother, Susan Vance-Johnson.

Family will accept friends and family on Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 3:00pm to 7:30pm at Ohio Christian University, MPAC Building, 1476 Lancaster Pike, Circleville, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 11:00am at the Ohio Christian University, MPAC Building. Drace will be laid to rest at Forest Cemetery.

In honor of Drace, family has asked for family and friends to make their donations towards his funeral expenses at Defenbaugh Wise Schoedinger at 151 E. Main St, Circleville or by phone at 740-474-3750. Drace Johnson
