Dear Son,
You entered this world on a spring night following our anxious drive to the hospital in Pinehurst, NC. Twenty-eight years later, on a chilly December night in Greenville, NC, we stood by your side as you silently drifted from our world. Just as we had been the first to welcome you, we were the last to hold your hand, stroke your textured hair, and kiss your forehead.
We will forever miss the welcoming sound of your voice; a demeanor that could lift spirits and offer encouragement; your golden heart designed to give; and a faith both non-judgmental and trusting. You touched many lives in many corners, and we know the loss is not only ours.
We find comfort not only in memories and a love held dear, but in knowing you are in God's hands and free from pain. You are and will always be our precious child.
Love,
Mom and Dad

Oh, Ralph and Karen,
It would have been nice if I had known you both better, and if I'd been blessed to have known Brian. I can tell that Brian was a young man that those who knew him will never forget. It is a great tribute to the two of you, that Brian affected so many - so positively. I continue to have you in my prayers, and hope that you find strength in knowing God's Almighty Love is sheltering Brian. Respectfully,

May Our Lord surround you with His Peace and Mercy.

Karen and Ralph,
To say that we are sad over your son's passing is just not enough but as human beings many times we do not have the words to describe how we feel. So I will just say that we have you and your family in our hearts forever and will remember you each time we pray. Should you need anything at all please do not hesitate to ask. I know you will perhaps soon be moving to your new home so we wish much happiness and peace for you as you move into a new phase of your lives.
Much love and many blessings,

I've never seen anyone love someone like lou and just being able to experience his love was more than amazing. I am blessed by God to have met my true love early in life. If it wasnt for the strong relationship I have with God I don't know what I would do. Days keep getting harder and longer . But I'm blessed I have full faith and God, and I'm blessed that I am as humble as I can be. I'm so sorry for your loss, for I know there is no condolence that can make it easier. But just know Brian was always as joyful and happy as he could be and enjoyed everything he could. He was so intelligent and could figure out just about anything. And one thing I know is he loved you guys more than you know. He would always keep you guys picture right next to our bed along with renee and his nieces. He was always happy to know his mom and dad were right around the corner and you still are. I hope everything goes the best for you guys.

I would like to share a few thoughts about Brian. I met him in 2013 in one of the several classes we took together at A-B Tech. He was such a caring and generous person. He never spoke negatively about anybody, only seeing the best in people. He cared about making a positive impact on his friends and the people around him. One day I told him about something that was troubling me and the next time I saw him he handed me a quartz crystal and said that it was for positive thoughts and energy. That's one of several acts of kindness I witnessed from Brian. Brian was always respectful, thoughtful, and genuine in his actions. He will be remembered as a good person. I'm sorry for your loss.

Ralph & Karen -

My thoughts and prayers go out to your family during this time. Brian (Lewie) was a great childhood friend who you could always count on and one I am honored to have known. His passion to achieve his goals along with his desire to help others are a few of his many remarkable traits. His laughter and smile were infectious, always making the world a brighter place. He will be missed by many, but never forgotten. So sorry for your loss.

I had the privilege of instructing Brian as a student in the Human Services program at A-B Tech. Brian's lack of pretentiousness and deep compassion for the less fortunate are inspirational. They could flow so naturally from his personality and no doubt were instilled as a part of the most excellent of family values. We continue the work of the field in this world in honor of and carrying forward the radiance of his spirit.

Ralph & Karen ~

My heart sank when I heard of Lewie's passing. I will forever be thankful for the friendship he and our son shared prior to our move to Iowa. Those two had a lot of fun together and I can still hear the laughter that filled our house and in those rides to and from wherever we were going.

While we did not do a great job of staying in touch after leaving NC, we often laughed and talked about the fun that Lewie and Matt had. As a matter of fact, we gave him his awesome nickname (spelled many ways) because it just fit him perfectly and it stuck.

My thoughts, prayers and heart go out to all of you and the loss you must be feeling.

I have scheduled my flight for this weekend so I can see the two of you and be a part of his 'Celebration of Life'.

Here is a collage of a few photos. It is that SMILE I remember the most.

Hugs & Condolences,

My heart truly aches knowing as a parent the fear of loosing a child and then have that fear turn into a reality. No matter how old they are they will always be our babies. I met "Louie" when my daughter and her husband brought him to my home on a few occasions. He was a nice young man who showed the upmost respect and I enjoyed spending time with him. I pray for you now as you go through a time of grieving and I ask God to give you the comfort and peace that only He can provide during a time such as this.
