Candler - Carl Robert Morgan, 80, of 309 Oak Hill Road died on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at his residence.

He was born in Haywood County, but had spent all of his life in Buncombe County. Carl was a son of the late James S. Morgan, Sr. and Hazel Roxanne Medford Morgan. He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances M. Burress, and a brother, James S. "Jimmy" Morgan, Jr. Carl loved sports, especially NASCAR racing and college basketball. He was a loyal Tar Heel fan. He loved gospel and bluegrass music. He enjoyed pulling jokes on his friends, which were many. He never met a stranger. Carl retired from BASF Corporation with more than 46 years of service. He was a United States Army veteran serving in Germany during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita "Bozie" King Morgan; one daughter, Robbie Jo Briggs of Candler; two sons, Robert Douglas Morgan and his wife, Vicky, and Roger Allen Morgan and his wife, Vicki, both of Asheville; five grandchildren, Allen Morgan and his wife, Traci, Allison Frady and her husband, Jamie, Jennifer Briggs, Corey Briggs and his wife, Jessica, and Tonya Pence and her husband, Jonathan; five great-grandchildren, Coleman and Morgan Frady, Cade and Caroline Morgan, and Hunter Briggs; two brothers, Reverend Alvin C. Morgan and his wife, Priscilla of Fuguay Varina and Joe Morgan and his wife, Nadine, of Fletcher; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Tony Hooper and Reverend Alvin Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank The VA Home Based Primary Care, the CNA's and staff from Bayada and Four Seasons Palliative & Hospice Care for all the love and support they have given to Carl. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.

I was carls neighbor for many years and you could not ask for a better neighbor always coming over to visit I am so sorry i was not able to come to the funeral or visitation but i thought the world of carl and his family
