Hendersonville - Christine Sigmon McGee, of Carolina Village, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, November 24, 2012. She was born February 2, 1924 in Newton, NC and lived in Henderson County since 1960. She was a daughter of the late John Emmett Sigmon and Eslie Deal Sigmon. She was preceded in death by William (Bill) McGee, her beloved husband of 63 years who passed away October 10, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her son, John Christopher McGee; brother, Fred Sigmon; and sisters, Madeline Smyre, Nadine Eudy, Rebecca Young, and Sue Henderson.

Christine attended Lenoir- Rhyne College and was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church, serving as Sunday school teacher and member of Naomi Circle of Church Women. She was very active in the Hendersonville community, including Chapter V PEO, Church Women United of Henderson County, Forrest Woman's Club, Old Kanuga Garden Club, Hendersonville Country Club, and other organizations.

Christine is survived by her sons, William Edward McGee, Jr. and wife Glenda of Louisburg, NC; Joseph Emmett McGee and wife Karen of Leicester; daughter-in-law, Diane McGee Smith and husband Randy of Rutherfordton; grandchildren, Tamara Young and husband Mike of Bryson City, Carrie Wood and husband Scott of Youngsville, NC, Phillip McGee of Leicester, Ryan McGee and wife Ashley, and Michael McGee of Rutherfordton; great-grandchildren, Kevyn, Megan, Morgan, Margaret, and Olivia; sister, Myrtle Murphy of Groton, MA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service in Christine's honor will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Grace Lutheran Church, with the family receiving friends following the service. Pastor Greg Williams and Pastor Ken Langsdorf will officiate. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 1245 6th Ave. W., Hendersonville, NC 28791 or to Carolina Village Endowment Fund, 600 Carolina Village Road, Hendersonville, NC 28792.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful people at Park Ridge Medical and Health facilities, Four Seasons Compassion for Life, and especially Carolina Village Medical Center for their loving and compassionate care for our Mom and Dad.

Christine and Bill offered joy to everyone who knew them. Growing up, I was blessed to spend parts of my summers at the home in Hendersonville, and will cherish those memories, your beaming smile, and your infectious laugh. We love you.
