Gregg Belknap Obituary

Gregg Alcon Belknap

Arden - Gregg Alcon Belknap passed away suddenly on November 5, 2017, at his home in Arden, North Carolina. He was born June 24, 1946, to Paul Alcon and Barbara Louise (Silver) Belknap in Canton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and his parents-in-law James Arthur and Nell (Riley) Jackson.

A graduate of Clemson University (BS) and the University of South Carolina (MBA), Gregg married Evelyn Kay Jackson in Isle of Palms, South Carolina, on December 20, 1975. In 1977, Gregg and Kay moved to North Carolina where Gregg established his business, Logitronics, Inc.

Gregg was a devoted family man who cherished beach time with his grandchildren and ended every family phone call with "I love you." He was champion and protector of all. For Christmas last year, he prepared duffel bags of survival tools for each family member and included hand-written instructions for use in case of emergency. A quiet, can-I-come-over-and help kind of father, he expressed his love in acts of service and wonderful emails and penned letters. At the end of his last email to his children, sent shortly before his death, he wrote "GOD IS GOOD."

Gregg had a dry sense of humor, delighting in puns and jokes, but his support for the Clemson Tigers was serious. He remarked once that he was glad he had lived to see the national championship win and even Saturday's win, too. Clemson wins were not laughing matters.

Left to mourn Gregg are his wife, his daughter and son-in-law Jenny Anne and Paul Ryan Krueger of Fletcher, NC, his son and daughter-in-law Mark Alcon and Ne'Kia (Tranell) Belknap of Atlanta, GA, his four grandchildren Ryan James, Miles William, Abigail Evelyn, and Caleb Graham Krueger of Fletcher, NC, his brother and sister-in-law Jeffery Allen and Janie Belknap of Sparta, TN, his nephew Patrick Belknap of Sparta, TN, three brothers-in-law and their wives, and three sisters-in-law and their husbands from Kay's family, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved him.

An attendee of Trinity of Fairview, Gregg loved the Lord Jesus Christ and served Him faithfully. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 8, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Home, 125 South Church Street, Hendersonville.

A memorial service will take place Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Trinity of Fairview with Rev. Stacey Harris officiating. Private burial will be later in Old St. Andrews Episcopal Church Cemetery in Charleston, South Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gregg's memory may be made to the Veritas Christian Academy Scholarship Fund, 17 Cane Creek Road, Fletcher, NC 28732.

I knew Gregg and Kay many years ago in Brevard.
We were great friends and I enjoyed many adventures with our families together. He was a kind, generous, and loving person. He and Kay brought much happiness and fond memories to my life. I was so sorry I just found out of his passing. My heart goes out to Kay and her family. Just to let you know you are on my mind. Kay and Gregg will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for the privilege of knowing and being apart of your life. I will always remember with great happiness our times together.

It was an unpleasant surprise to see Gregg's obituary. Had thought about him over the years. We had wonderful experiences through Scouting in the 1950s when his family lived on East Bay Street in Charleston. It was a treat to spend nights with the family on a number of occasions. I still have fond memories of his Mother, Father and brother Jeff. Since I was away for almost 40 years, contact with many friends were lost.
My most sincere condolences are with Gregg's family during this very difficult time.
