Joan Avery Mulvaney Johnson

Asheville - April 10, 1933 - June 27, 2021

Joan Avery Mulvaney Johnson (88) passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021 in her home surrounded by family.

The daughter of the late Norbert P. and Lillian Felthaus Mulvaney, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Gene Davis Johnson, brothers John and James Mulvaney, sister Carolyn Mulvaney, and great grandson Brett Tinsley.

Joan is survived by her 7 children, 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-greatgrandchildren.

A 1950 graduate of St. Genevieve of the Pines "Toppers", Joan was deeply devoted to her faith and family. She and Gene built a successful business with their children, Johnsons Auto Recycling.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Saturday July 3, at St. Joan of Arc Church, 768 Asbury Rd., Candler, NC 28715, followed by Mass service 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Green Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Memory Care of Asheville, 100 Far Horizons Lane, Asheville, NC 28803.
