Loyce Paul Bryant

Weaverville - Loyce Paul Bryant, age 83 of Weaverville died Monday, April 6, 2015 at Aston Park Health Center after suffering from an extended illness.

Loyce was born October 17, 1931 in Yancey County and resided in Buncombe County for most of his life. He loved to fish, hunt and garden. Mr. Bryant retired from the National Climatic Data Center, working primarily in printing, and was a member of Woodland Hills Church. He enjoyed and looked forward to spending time with his family whom he dearly loved. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean War.

Loyce was a son of the late Perry Dempsey and Georgia Bradford Bryant, also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

Surviving are his bride of 63 years Faye Crawford Bryant: daughters, Brendia Edwards and husband Scott, Sharon Steele and husband Ken; sons, Eddie Bryant and wife Alice, Greg Bryant and wife Sharon all of Weaverville; sister, Freida Buckner and husband Curtis of Huntersville, NC; grandchildren, Alesia and her husband Chris Whitfield, Tonya and her husband Adam Ellwood, Jared Gudger, Chad and his wife Brittney Steele, Tyler and his wife Heather Steele, Amy Steele, Josh, Anna, Lacey Bryant, Brittani Bryant and nine great grandchildren; close friend, Homer Revis and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law who were like his siblings.

His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, April 10, 2015, in Newbridge Baptist Church, 199 Elkwood Ave., Asheville, NC 28804, with Reverend Clark Henderson and Norval Hensley officiating. Burial will be in Jupiter Cemetery, Weaverville, with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post #5483, Mars Hill Memorial Team.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville.

At other times, the family will be at the residence.

Flowers are appreciated or those desiring to make a memorial contribution are encouraged to consider the Veterans Restoration Quarters, c/o ABCCM, 30 Cumberland Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801.
