Mattie DeBruhl Obituary

Mattie E. DeBruhl

Asheville - Mattie Ella Rhodes DeBruhl, 83, of 264 Smith Road, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center.

A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She retired as a Lunchroom Manager for Clyde A. Erwin Middle and High School for over 28 years, was a member of Victory Baptist Church where she was a member of the Sunshine Club and numerous church activities. She enjoyed needle point and quilting.

Mrs. DeBruhl was a daughter of the late Rosco Rhodes and Kitty Lee Miller Rhodes and was the wife of Harold Reese DeBruhl who died July 30, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her son, Timothy DeBruhl and sister, Juanita Garrison.

Surviving are her sons, Jimmy Reese DeBruhl and wife Alana of Canton; Kim DeBruhl and wife Pam of Asheville; grandchildren, Jeremy DeBruhl and Jillian DeBruhl both of Asheville; sister, Betty Jackson of Winston-Salem; brother, Max Rhodes of Asheville; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Saturday at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Sprinkle officiating. Burial will follow in Sluder Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 9:45 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. Saturday at Victory Baptist Church.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Laurels of Greentree Ridge and the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center for the love and kindness shown to our family.

To all the family:I am so sorry to hear about Mattie.I came to know Miss Mattie during her stay at the Laurel,s.What a Blessing it was to me that I got to share a little part of a wonderful lady,s life with her.She was sweet and we shared alot of laughs together always had a smile to give you know matter how bad she felt and she had a beautiful smile that I will miss so much.Mt thoughts and prayers are with you.May God give you peace and comfort during this time.

Miss Mattie shared a room with my Mother (Marie Hawkins) for a short time. She was such a dear, sweet lady! My thoughts and prayers are with the family throughout this difficult time. May the thought of her being at peace bring you comfort.
