Richard Forkey Obituary

Richard Owen Forkey

Leicester -

Richard Owen Forkey, 70, of Leicester NC, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

Richard was born to his late parents Clyde Owen and Annette Moore Forkey on May 16, 1951 in Rutland, Vermont.

He graduated from Penn State University in 1992 with a BS in Structural Engineering and has worked in that field for 30 years. For the past 15 years he owned and operated Twin Hills Structures and was still working until admitted to the hospital just one month ago.

Richard was a fun-loving man who literally never met a stranger. As a member and Deacon of Redmon Baptist Church, he loved everyone and was the first to give out hugs. Richard was also a supporter of Habitat for Humanity volunteering many hours of labor.

Family that will miss him: his wife, Linda M. Forkey; sister, Ann Cerda (Frank) of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Wade Forkey (Chris) of York, PA; nieces, Gina (John) Gardner and Jennifer Cerda; one nephew, Paco (Katie) Cerda; one great-niece Frankie and one great on the way. Also, one son-by-love, Randy Shank and sister-by-love, Elaine Price.

There will be a service to honor his life on Wednesday, July 14th, 2021 at 6:00 PM at Redmon Baptist Church - 2675 Bear Creek Road - Marshall NC. Officiating: Rev. Cecil Hopps (Redmon Baptist) and Chaplain Steve Plemmons.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Redmon Baptist - Cemetery Fund: PO Box 1656, Leicester, NC 28748
