Ted Poore Obituary

TED POORE

ASHEVILLE - W. "Ted" Poore, 91, died on Sunday, February 20, 2011, at his grandson, David's residence.

A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Robert William and Minerva Jane Messer Poore. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dot Poore; eight brothers, two sisters, and a son, Robert Marvin Poore. Ted loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a retired United States Navy veteran with 27 years of service and served in World War II.

He is survived by two sons, Steve Poore (Naomi) and Allen Poore (Pat); a daughter, Charlene Parker (Bill); two sisters Renith Lanham and Bobbie Severson; eight grandchildren, Ed, Tim and Briana Massey, Lee and David Poore, Melissa Moon, Christy Welch, and Christopher Godwin; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at Hice Hill Cemetery in Candler. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
