Wilma Poteat Parham

Candler - Wilma Poteat Parham, 80, of Candler, went to be with the Lord July 29, 2017 at Aston Park Health Care Center.

Mrs. Parham was born January 20, 1937 in Marion, NC to the late Joe Sephus Peteat and Minnie Pearl Poteat. Wilma worked as co-owner of Beverly Hills Styling and Day Spa in Oteen for over five decades where she specialized in chemo-therapy wigs for cancer patients.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son Jeffrey Scott Parham.

Wilma is survived by her husband of 62 years, Grady B. Parham; son Grady Joe Parham of Candler; brother Joe Poteat of Lampassas, TX; sisters Hazel Wallace of Swannanoa, Anne Willis of Asheville, and Nell Webb of Asheville; grandchildren Jacob Parham, Levi Parham and Jocie Parham all of Candler and Kaylor Parham of Charlotte; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Funeral services for Mrs. Parham will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at Pole Creek Baptist Church in Candler, with the Rev. Dennis Thurman officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., prior to the service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that contributions be made in Wilma's name to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation at alzheimersresearchfoundation.com.
