Alexander Paul Exter recently passed Monday, Dec. 26, 2022.
Alex was born in Avoca on Jan. 14, 1940, to the late Peter and Lottie Pietras Exter. He married Margaret "Peggy" Williamson, of Pittston, on Oct. 4, 1969, and their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Lorna Rodeghiero (currently living in Bear Creek Twp. with husband, Eric) and Lana Exter (currently living in Jacksonville, Fla., with husband, David Chesire).
Alex is survived by three sisters, Lucille Exter, Avoca; Marilyn Kenzakoski (husband, Joesph, deceased), Bear Creek Twp.; and Emily Grabowski (husband, Paul), Bethlehem.
Alex was also proceeded in death by two brothers, Ronald Exter (wife, Helen), Dupont, and Gerard Exter, Bear Creek Twp.; and a brother-in-law, Robert Williamson (wife, Rita), Pittston.
He has many nieces and nephews.
Alex was a 1957 graduate of Avoca High School. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force after serving four years, three of which were in England. Alex was also a 1964 graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey, and was assigned duties in Philadelphia and Dunmore, before retiring in January 1992 after serving 28 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 46 and the Retired State Police Association of Pennsylvania.
Alex was a longtime member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Avoca, until moving to Dallas, becoming a member of St. Therese's Church, Shavertown.
Memorial services will be held at noon Monday from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with the Rev. James Paisley, of St. Therese's Parish Church, Shavertown, officiating. Friends may call for visitation from 9:30 a.m. to service time. Interment will take place in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, Elmhurst.

sorry for your loss. Nora Culp my love of 39 years passed in 2015 she went to school with him in the old days. i do remember her speaking of him fondly.

Mr Exter was a very nice man and the Exter´s were great neighbors. He was a great fisherman as well and he showed me and my brother some things for trout! RIP Al.
